US DESIGN SERVICES

Engineering capacity without the headcount

Design demand does not arrive evenly. A quiet month leaves an in-house designer underused, and a busy month leaves the whole pipeline waiting on one person. That mismatch is what stalls growing installers.

We are 50+ engineers working across US and Indian code environments daily. You send work when you have it and pay per project, and the capacity is there when the month turns busy.

QUALITY CONTROL

How we keep errors out of your submittals

The honest question behind every outsourcing decision is whether the quality holds. This is the process, stated plainly enough that you can hold us to it.

Engineers reviewing solar design drawings during a quality check
1

Input verification

Roof framing, obstructions, and equipment confirmed before design starts. Assumed inputs are the root of most rework.

2

Design to adopted code

Built against the code cycle the jurisdiction has actually adopted, not the newest published cycle.

3

Independent second review

A different engineer checks the set against a jurisdiction specific checklist. Nobody signs off their own work.

4

Structural verification

Loads verified in STAAD Pro rather than read off a racking manufacturer table, wherever the structure is non standard.

5

Delivery and support

Files in your format. If the reviewing authority comes back with comments, the correction is included.

ENGAGEMENT MODELS

Four ways to work with us

No retainer, no minimum volume, no onboarding fee. Start with one project and scale when it makes sense.

Per project

Send one job, pay for one job. No retainer, no minimum volume, no onboarding fee. This is how almost every client starts.

Testing our output, or genuinely occasional demand.

Named designer

Once volume is steady, one designer owns your account. They learn your title block, conduit preferences, and the AHJs you submit to most often.

Growing installers with regular weekly volume.

Dedicated team

An agreed daily capacity with a delivery SLA, functioning as your outsourced design department rather than a vendor.

High volume operations where design throughput caps growth.

Overflow support

On call capacity that works alongside your existing in-house designer, absorbing peak months without a permanent hire.

Installers who already have a designer but lose deals when busy.

MARKETS AND CODES

One team, six code environments

The same engineers who produce CEIG approval drawings for an Indian DISCOM also produce NEC compliant permit sets for US installers. Working across code frameworks daily is why code specifics do not get lost in handoff.

Market Code framework Primary focus
United States NEC 690, 705, 706, ASCE 7, IBC and IRC, plus state amendments Permit design, proposal design, commercial engineering
Canada Canadian Electrical Code, cold climate and snow loading Permit design, structural verification

Gulf and Middle East High ambient derating, sand soiling, local utility standards MW scale rooftop and ground mount, PMC
Europe Eurocode structural, national grid connection codes C&I rooftop and ground mount
Australia and Africa AS/NZS standards, regional utility requirements Commercial rooftop, captive solar

Delivered for more than 300 EPCs across 15 countries. See the full locations index.

Working with an India based design partner

It is a fair question and worth answering directly. We are based in Surat, Gujarat, and most of our clients are not.

Our engineers work hours that overlap US time zones, so work sent at the end of your day is on your desk the next morning. That time difference is an advantage rather than a cost once the workflow is set up.

On code: our team works in US and Indian code environments daily. The same engineers who produce CEIG approval drawings for an Indian DISCOM also produce NEC compliant permit sets for US installers. Work is covered by NDA and IP transfers to you.

FAQ

US Solar Design Services FAQs

What solar design services do you provide in the US?
Proposal design for the sales stage, permit plan sets for AHJ submittal, 3D pre-design and shade studies, detailed engineering for rooftop and ground mount, civil and structural engineering with STAAD Pro verification, and yield and technical reports. Installers usually start with one service and expand once turnaround and quality are proven.
Do you work with residential or commercial projects?
Both. Residential is high volume and speed driven. Commercial and industrial carries structural calculations, equipment coordination, and interconnection complexity. We also handle MW scale work, including a 11 MW DC rooftop project on tin shed structures, documented in our project case study.
How does outsourcing solar design compare to hiring in-house?
An in-house designer is a fixed cost against variable demand. Outsourcing converts that to per project cost, which matters most when volume is uneven or seasonal. We break the arithmetic down in the hidden cost of an in-house solar designer.
Which software do you design in?
PVsyst and HelioScope for simulation and yield, AutoCAD for drawings, STAAD Pro for structural analysis, and Aurora Solar or OpenSolar for proposal work. We can work inside your own accounts so project records stay in your systems.
Do you handle code compliance across different states?
Yes, and it is the core of the work. National Electrical Code adoption is staggered across states, and states layer their own amendments such as Title 24 in California or the High Velocity Hurricane Zone in South Florida. We design to the cycle the jurisdiction has actually adopted rather than the newest published one.
What are your turnaround times?
Proposal drawings go out same day to next business day. Standard residential permit sets take 24 to 48 hours. Commercial, ground mount, and detailed engineering are scoped individually because structural calculations and equipment coordination drive the timeline.
Do you offer revisions?
Yes, with no extra charge. Plan review comments are a normal part of permitting rather than an exception, and billing per revision round is how a cheap set becomes an expensive one.
You are based in India. How do quality and IP work?
Our engineers work overlapping hours with US time zones, so files return on your next working morning. Work is covered by NDA and IP transfers to you. We have delivered for more than 300 EPCs across 15 countries. Our detailed answer is in offshore solar design, US versus India.
Can we start with a single project?
Yes. There is no retainer and no minimum volume to begin. Most clients send one project, check the output, then scale. You can also review sample deliverables before sending anything.
Do you serve Canada as well as the US?
Yes. Our permit design service covers both the US and Canada. Canadian work runs against the Canadian Electrical Code with cold climate and snow loading considerations rather than the NEC.
How do you quality check drawings before delivery?
Every set goes through a second engineer review against a jurisdiction specific checklist before it leaves us. The reviewer is not the person who drew it, because the fastest way to miss a setback error is to check your own work. Structural output is verified in STAAD Pro rather than assumed from a racking table.
What engagement models do you offer?
Per project with no commitment, per project with a named designer assigned once volume is steady, a dedicated team with agreed daily capacity for high volume clients, and overflow support alongside your existing in-house designer for peak months.
Who owns the drawings and the intellectual property?
You do. Work is covered by NDA and all intellectual property in the deliverables transfers to you. We do not reuse your drawings, your customer data, or your templates for anyone else.
Can you work as our engineering department for tenders?
Yes. For tender and bid work we produce the technical documentation package, including layout, yield modelling, BOQ, and structural approach, on the tender timeline. MW scale bids are handled through our project management consultancy service.
What size projects do you handle?
From single residential rooftops to MW scale. The largest documented project on our site is an 11 MW DC rooftop installation on tin shed structures, which involved structural verification across dozens of shed roofs alongside the electrical design.
How quickly can you start?
Usually within one business day of confirmed scope. There is no onboarding project or setup fee. Send one project, judge the output, then decide whether to scale.
